چکیده

An important aspect of planning for shallow tunneling under urban areas is the determination of likely surface movements and interaction with existing structures. Back analysis of built tunnels that their settlements magnitude is available, could aid the designers to have a more accuracy in future projects. In this paper, one single Tehran Metro Tunnel (at west of Hor square, Jang University Street) was selected. At first, surface settlements of this tunnel were measured in situ. Then this tunnel was modeled using the commercial finite deference software FLAC-3D. Finally, Results of modeling and in situ measurements compared for verification. Keywords—Shallow Tunnel, Back Analysis, Surface Movement, Numerical Modeling.

Construction Procedures Evaluation of Three Adjacent Tunnels and Excavation Step Effects

Since, both the relative position of tunnels and the construction procedure affect the soil movement and internal forces in the lining, it is of major concern to study the influence of these factors on the tunnel design. Construction procedures of tunnels have considerable effects on the magnitude of surface movements and lining stresses. This paper describes numerical analysis of construction ...

Cross Section Effects on Convergence-Confinement Method in Multi Stage Tunnel Excavation

Dimensionless coefficient () in convergence confinement method shows the relaxation of stress in the wall of the tunnel at different excavation movements. This factor is considered a constant number in previous studies and tunnel geometric characteristics (such as depth, cross-section shape, radius, soil material, etc.) are not included in its determination; however, ignoring these effects can...

Numerical Investigation on Effects of Deep Excavations’ Position on Existing Metro Tunnels in Urban Areas

Nowadays deep excavations are needed for construction of foundation of high rise buildings, providing space for parking and etc. In some cases deep excavations may be constructed in the vicinity of the subway tunnels and causes unpredicted extra displacements and internal forces in tunnel lining of tunnels which were not designed for them and consequently affect serviceability of tunnel. Theref...

A Budgeting Model for the Safety Unit of an Under Construction Metro Station in Tehran Using a Robust Optimization

Background: The construction of metro lines is a high-risk project. Using a budget-based model for the safety units of metro construction projects can help safety managers to spend optimal budget allocation. The purpose of this study was to plan a budget model based on safety unit performance in an under construction metro station for better budget allocation using robust optimization. Methods...

Dynamic Risk Assessment in Construction Projects Using Bayesian Networks

This paper presents a systemic Bayesian network (BN) based approach for dynamic risk assessment for adjacent buildings in tunnel construction. This approach consists of four steps in detail, namely, hazard analysis, BN learning and BN-based risk analysis. In the dynamic risk analysis framework, the predictive, sensitivity and diagnostic analysis techniques in the Bayesian inference are used to ...
